A Skoda key is a remote key with a standby blade or, on equipped models, a KESSY keyless key, and selected electric Skoda models add a digital key on a phone. Inta-Lock works on the physical key, the locks and the immobiliser. For supported Skoda work that requires Volkswagen Group manufacturer access, Matt carries ODIS.
Matt is with you within the hour in Leicester, and the same day across Leicestershire. Calls to 0116 442 2084 are answered 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Six Skoda key jobs are taken on at the car, and the method of each one sits on its own service page.
Support for a given Skoda is confirmed on the call, before Matt sets off.
Five Skoda key situations are sorted before the call, and what the car does in each one tells Matt which job it is.
| What the Skoda does | What Skoda builds in for it | What to check and say on the call |
|---|---|---|
| The remote buttons do not lock or unlock the car | The key holds a blade as a standby, and a mechanical lock cylinder sits in the driver door. On newer cars that cylinder is hidden from view. | Try the blade in the driver door. Say whether it opens the door, so that the lock and the remote are told apart. |
| The door handle of a KESSY car does not unlock it | On equipped models, KESSY recognises the key close to the car and unlocks when a door handle or the tailgate is operated. | Press the buttons on the key. Say whether they still lock and unlock the Skoda. |
| The start button does not start the engine | On keyless systems the car reads a coil inside the key, and the coil uses no battery power. The key is held next to the start button on older systems and placed in the cup holder on newer cars. | Hold the key in that place and press the button. Say whether the engine starts. |
| A phone is used as the Skoda key | On selected electric models, the Skoda digital key locks, unlocks and starts the car from a compatible phone. The car is still delivered with a physical key. | The digital key is managed through the digital key setup Skoda supports, and it is not cut or programmed as a physical key. Say which physical keys are held. |
| No Skoda key is held at all | The checks above are closed to the owner, because each one starts from a key. | Give the registration and say that every key is gone. |
The answers place the Skoda key job before Matt sets off. The table gives no time for any row, because the time at the car varies with the model, the year and the key system.
Skoda keys replaced and programmed at the car in Leicester, on supported models.
Call Matt on 0116 442 2084KESSY is the name Skoda gives its Keyless Entry, Start and exit System. On earlier KESSY cars a sensor in the door handle starts the search for the key, and on newer systems the door unlocks as the key comes close when that function is switched on. Selected newer Skoda models add an Ultra Wide Band unit that checks the travel time of the key signal and so prevents the signal being extended.
Skoda is a Volkswagen Group brand, in the same brand group as Volkswagen and Seat. For supported Skoda work that requires Volkswagen Group manufacturer access, Matt carries ODIS. Inta-Lock holds SERMI accreditation, and the SERMI scheme authorises access to security related manufacturer information where supported work requires it.
The key system on the car, the model and the year decide which route a new Skoda key takes, and the work itself is set out under replacement car keys.
Five steps carry a Skoda key job from the first call to a key tested at the car.
The owner stays with the Skoda while the key work is done.
Skoda key systems differ between ranges and between model years of the same range. The current United Kingdom line holds hatchbacks and estates such as the Fabia, the Octavia and the Superb, the Kamiq, Karoq and Kodiaq sport utility models, and electric models such as the Elroq and the Enyaq. Earlier Skoda ranges are still driven in Leicester.
The registration identifies the Skoda, its year and the key system it left the factory with. Support for that car is confirmed on the call, before attendance, and no list of supported models is published here.

The person who takes the Skoda call is the person who arrives at the car. Matt East owns Inta-Lock, trained as a locksmith from 2011, and took up automotive work and its equipment in 2019.
Garages and dealers have referred vehicles to him since 2021. More than 1,000 jobs stand behind the Skoda key work he carries out today.

A Skoda on a drive, outside a workplace or in a car park in Leicester or Leicestershire is worked on in that spot. Matt is with you within the hour in Leicester, and the same day across Leicestershire.
Four Skoda key situations sit beside the replacement key, each handed to the service page that owns the method, and the group makes follow.
With no Skoda key left, a new key is made at the car on supported models without an original to copy. The method belongs to lost car keys.
Missing electronic keys are removed from the immobiliser memory where the vehicle supports it. A mechanical blade still turns a physical lock unless that lock is changed or rekeyed. On a Skoda that point carries weight, because the standby blade inside a lost key fits the lock cylinder in the driver door.
A second Skoda key is made while one key still works, and that route is set out under spare car keys.
A digital key on a phone does not take the place of the spare. A Skoda that supports the digital key is still delivered with a physical key, and the physical keys are the ones Inta-Lock works on.
Skoda key fob faults are handled under the car key fob repair service. Whether the remote is repaired or takes another route is confirmed after the fault is identified.
A Skoda key with silent buttons, a blade that opens the driver door and an engine that starts is a remote fault and not a lost key.
A Skoda that unlocks and then refuses to start is a different fault from a silent remote. On a keyless Skoda the first check is the key held next to the start button, or placed in the cup holder on newer cars.
An engine that stays off after that check, with a key the car once accepted, is traced under immobiliser diagnostics.
Skoda shares a Volkswagen Group brand group with Volkswagen and Seat, and Audi is a brand of the same group, so the key page of each make stands next to this one.
KESSY is the Skoda name for its Keyless Entry, Start and exit System, which unlocks an equipped car at the door handle and starts the engine from a button with the key close by.
A Skoda with KESSY still carries a blade inside the key and a mechanical lock cylinder in the driver door.
Yes, a keyless Skoda starts with a flat key battery, because the car reads a coil inside the key that uses no battery power.
The key is held next to the start button on older keyless systems and placed in the cup holder on newer cars. A Skoda that stays off after that is a job to describe to Matt on the call.
The door lock of a keyless Skoda is a mechanical lock cylinder in the driver door, and on newer cars it is hidden from view.
The standby blade held inside the key fits that cylinder, and it opens the door when the remote or the car battery is flat.
Yes, a Skoda that supports the digital key is still delivered with a physical key.
The digital key on a phone is managed through the digital key setup Skoda supports, and it is not cut or programmed as a physical key. Inta-Lock works on the physical key, the locks and the immobiliser.
No, ODIS is carried for supported Skoda work that requires Volkswagen Group manufacturer access, and the route for each Skoda is confirmed on the call.
The registration, the model and the year tell Matt which route the key takes.
Supported Skoda key work is carried out where the car stands in Leicester, and that covers KESSY keys on supported models.
Matt confirms from the registration whether the Skoda is supported before he sets off.
A replacement Skoda key is priced for the individual car, and a quote is agreed before work begins.
The key system, the model, the year and whether a working key is still held set the figure, so no price list is published.
Have the Skoda registration to hand and call Matt on 0116 442 2084.
