The service covers the key work a business fleet generates, from a planned spare for a vehicle that runs on one key to a new key for a vehicle whose keys are gone. Matt East attends and carries out the work himself.
A quote is agreed before work begins. Identity and authority to request the work are checked before a key is cut, and the phone is answered 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Six key jobs make up fleet key work, and each one is carried out at the vehicle on supported cars and vans.
A fleet rarely holds one type of vehicle, and the key system of a van differs from the key system of a car. Load area locks, van key types and van lock points are set out on the replacement van keys page, and the same work is booked for a fleet through this service.
Every fleet key request follows the same four stages, the situation, the information the fleet supplies, the work at the vehicle and the handover. The table sets out six situations a fleet meets.
| Fleet situation | What the fleet supplies | Work at the vehicle | Handover and control |
|---|---|---|---|
| A vehicle runs on one key | Registration, make, model and year, and the working key at the vehicle | A second key is cut and programmed alongside the working key | Both keys are tested with the fleet contact present, and the spare enters the fleet key store |
| A driver loses one key and another key remains | Registration, and every key the fleet still holds for that vehicle | A new key is made, and missing electronic keys are removed from the immobiliser memory where the vehicle supports it | The fleet key register is updated to show which keys start the vehicle |
| No key remains for a vehicle | Registration and location of the vehicle, and the documents confirmed on the call | On supported vehicles a key is made without an original and programmed to the immobiliser | The new key is tested with the fleet contact present, and a spare is decided at the same time |
| A key is not returned when a driver leaves | Registration, and every key the fleet still holds for that vehicle | Missing electronic keys are removed from the immobiliser memory where the vehicle supports it | The register records the removed key, and the fleet decides whether the door lock is a concern |
| A key is broken, worn or has a dead remote | Registration, and the faulty key | The key is tested, then repaired or replaced according to the fault found | The working key is tested at the vehicle, and the faulty key leaves the register |
| Keys are shut inside a vehicle | Registration and location of the vehicle, and the name of the driver on site | Non destructive entry, and the keys are recovered from inside | The keys return to the driver, and the fleet logs the event against the vehicle |
The first three columns describe the visit. The last column is the part a fleet controls, because a key register is only accurate when every new, removed and retired key is written into it on the day.
A fleet key that is lost, stolen or kept by a former driver still belongs to a vehicle that is in use, so the new key is half of the job and the missing key is the other half.
The second panel is the reason a fleet reports a missing key on the day it is noticed. Until the key is removed from the immobiliser memory, it still starts the vehicle it was made for.
Identity and authority to request the work are checked before fleet key work starts, on a business vehicle exactly as on a private one.
The V5C vehicle registration certificate, which names the registered keeper, and photo identification are common examples of what is checked. On a leased or contract hire vehicle the registered keeper is often the leasing company and not the business that runs the vehicle, so the documents that apply to a fleet vehicle are confirmed on the call.
The person who requests fleet key work is rarely the driver who holds the key. A fleet that names one person to authorise key work, and gives that name on the call, keeps the check short at the vehicle.

Five steps take a fleet key request from the call to the handover.
Inta-Lock is open 24 hours, so a fleet key request raised outside office hours is taken on the same number.

Matt East handles and attends fleet key work himself, so the person a fleet manager speaks to on the call is the person who arrives at the vehicles. Matt has trained as a locksmith since 2011, has carried out automotive work since 2019 and has completed more than 1,000 jobs.
Garages and dealers have referred vehicle key work to Inta-Lock since 2021. Inta-Lock is SERMI accredited, and Matt is NCFE qualified, a member of the NNAL, Enhanced DBS checked and insured to £5 million public liability, which are the checks a business asks of a contractor who works on its vehicles and its premises.
Four inputs set the quote for fleet key work, and each one comes from the vehicle list the fleet supplies.
No price list is published, and a quote is agreed before work begins. Account, invoicing and payment arrangements for a business are not set out on this page and are discussed on the call.
Fleet key work is carried out at depots, yards, business units and driver addresses across Leicester and Leicestershire. Matt is with you within the hour in Leicester, and the same day across Leicestershire.

Fleet car and van keys cut and programmed where the vehicles stand in Leicester.
Call Matt on 0116 442 2084Four related routes sit beside fleet key work, and each one answers a different question a fleet manager asks.
Comparison. Both end with a working key programmed to the vehicle, and both are carried out where the vehicle stands.
Differences. A planned spare is made beside a working key, on a day the fleet chooses, with the vehicle still in use. A lost key callout starts with no working key, with the vehicle already off the road.
Similarities. Both begin with the same check of identity and authority, and both are quoted before work begins.
Effects. A fleet that holds a second key for each vehicle turns a lost key into a planned job. The second key itself is set out on the spare car keys page.
Inta-Lock also offers keys by post, which is a separate route from an attended visit. Mercedes and Land Rover keys are sent by post for supported models only.
Whether the postal route suits a vehicle on a fleet is confirmed on the call, from the make, model and year.
A new key restores access to a vehicle, and it adds nothing to the security the vehicle left the factory with. A fleet that wants a further layer on a vehicle is looking at an added immobiliser, which is a different service from key work.
Inta-Lock fits the Autowatch Ghost 2 immobiliser, and the fitting is set out on its own page.
A fleet vehicle that goes home with its driver is away from the depot when the key is lost, and the key work follows the vehicle. A van parked outside a driver address in Saffron and Eyres Monsell is attended at that address.
The authority check is the same as at the depot. The driver is present with the vehicle, and the request comes from the person the fleet names to authorise key work.
Yes. Inta-Lock cuts and programmes keys for fleet cars and fleet vans on supported vehicles, at the place each vehicle stands.
The make, model and year of each vehicle are given on the call, because a mixed fleet carries more than one key system.
A fleet manager has the registration, make, model and year of each vehicle ready, with the key work wanted on each and the name of the person who authorises it.
The documents for the identity and authority check are confirmed on the same call.
Whether several fleet vehicles are handled in one booking is confirmed on the call, from the vehicles on the list and the key work wanted on each.
A quote is agreed before work begins.
A lost electronic key no longer starts the engine once it is removed from the immobiliser memory, which is done where the vehicle supports it.
A mechanical blade still turns a physical lock unless that lock is changed or rekeyed.
The documents that authorise key work on a leased fleet vehicle are confirmed on the call, because the registered keeper named on the V5C is often the leasing company.
Identity and authority to request the work are checked before a key is cut.
Yes. Inta-Lock is open 24 hours, and the phone is answered 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
